Monique Lhuillier has showcased her sea-themed Spring 2013 read-to-wear collection during New York Fashion Week. Fish scale print and glitter were used to convey the theme in a blue, red, and black color palette. Feminine silhouettes and streamline shapes are the key of the collection. The pieces feature various graphic prints beside the fish scale. Sparkling pieces include cocktail dresses, shorts, jackets and floor-length dresses. The flowing fabrics in long dresses contrast with harder suits that come with structural details like peplum that seems to be holding position in Spring/Summer 2013 season. There are also details like sleeves, rounded necklines and flippers.
The majority of the collection is dresses and skirts but there are also shorts and slim-fit trousers completed with blazers, peplum tops and oversize jackets. The shoes are designed in the theme with the collection featuring scale details and prints. The delicate sandals come in black and blue solid colors as well as sheer black lace. There is lots of lacing detail going on emphasizing the ankle.
